Both the National Conference and PDP are part of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA), which was formed in July last year to dislodge the Narendra Modi-led BJP at the Centre.

“National Conference did not leave any way for us other than to contest all three Lok Sabha seats of the Kashmir Valley. We are having deliberations with our workers, and a decision will be announced soon,” Mehbooba Mufti said. Lok Sabha Election 2024

She said that in view of the situations arising post the abrogation of Article 370, both the parties were supposed to move forward united.

“Thousands of youngsters are languishing in jails, journalists have been booked, and people are not being allowed to speak in Jammu and Kashmir. It would have been better to contest these polls unitedly,” said Mehbooba Mufti. Lok Sabha Election 2024

The PDP chief also claimed during Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra’s culmination ceremony in Mumbai, she had said Farooq Abdullah is a senior leader and will take decisions with respect to Jammu and Kashmir.

“I thought Farooq Abdullah is elder to us and he will speak above party lines. If Farooq Abdullah or Omar Abdullah thought they have better voices than PDP, they could have discussed with us two months ago,” said Mehbooba.Lok Sabha Election 2024

In the larger interest of people, there were many ways to deal with the situation, said Mehooba Mufti, adding that Omar Abdullah announced a candidate without having a word with her and made remarks that PDP is not in a position to win the polls. Lok Sabha Election 2024

“You are aware that in the last five years, BJP broke my party and took away all big leaders. My workers who spent their own money to become part of my rallies were hurt by Omar Abdullah’s remarks,” said Mehbooba Mufti. Lok Sabha Election 2024
